  •    A dog quickly discovered and started backing at her as it attacked her.
During a wedding ceremony on sunday, April 2 in Maiduguri, Borno State, a teenage suicide bomber tried entering into the gathering when a dog intervened saving dozens from sudden death.
The dog attacked her gripping her with its teeth, she reportedly detonated the explosive while trying to free herself from the grip of the dog - both the bomber and the dog were killed in the blast.

Police said the dog belonged to a resident of the neighborhood where the wedding took place.

According to a deputy superintendent of police, Victor Isuku, the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at Belbelo community of Jere LGA of Borno.

She said: "Information just received indicate that today at about 7.33am, a female suicide bomber with IED strapped to her body, attempted to infiltrate a wedding ceremony gathering in Belbelo community of Jere LGA.

"She was however prevented by a watch dog, so she had to detonate the IED to kill herself and the dog.

"The dog was owned by resident in the locality"

Isuku added that normalcy has since been restored in the area and "no further casualty was recorded apart from the dog."

It was however not clear if the dog was trained in bomb detection.

The incident occurred few hours after three suicide bombers blew themselves up at two different locations near the spot the wedding took place.

The Boko Haram sect has killed about 100,000 people in the states since it broke out in 2009.
